Effect of overburden strata creep activities on working face support resistance

  • According to the influence of advance speed of working face on support working resistance, especially during the non-productive period of working face, support working resistance does not remain unchanged, but slowly increa- ses. Currently there has been no theory to explain this phenomenon. Based on the creep characteristics and theoretical models of rock, and by contrasting the similarity of creep curve of rock and support working resistance curve during the non-productive period, this paper analyzed the support working resistance “ creep” characteristics at different stages (production,maintenance,long-time off production). By studying No. 21305 working face in Cuimu Mine,China, the paper also fitted the relationship between support working resistance and time. It indicates that the creep equations and fitting curves of Nishihara simplified model have a strong consistency during the period of maintenance and long-time off production. This indicates that if off production time is longer, the influence of roof creep activities on support work- ing resistance is more obvious. Fitting curve correlation is relatively high. By using existing data, this theory can accu- rately predict future support working resistance ( in the same circle). The results explained the influence of working face advance velocity on support working resistance.
