A frequency-weighted energy operator for bearing fault detection of vibrating screen

  • Teager energy operator (TEO) has been widely used in the field of signal processing, but it is well known that TEO is very sensitive to noise. Vibrating screen is a kind of screening equipment in the field of the vibrating ma- chine, which differs greatly from the rotating machine in terms of structural characteristics and operational principles. Therefore, there is a big difference between signals from the two different systems. The vibration signals emanating from the vibrating screen contain not only a great deal of background noise, but also multiple constituents. Thus,Teager en- ergy operator has a large limitation on vibrating screen. Based on this,an alternative energy operator method called fre- quency-weighted energy operator (FWEO) is proposed in this paper, whose robustness is superior to TEO. The results of simulation and vibrating screen experiments indicate that the method can effectively extract fault features, which cer- tifies its feasibility and superiority.
